Open Access Policies — IJRGP
IJRGP publishes articles under an open-access (OA) model to maximise the reach, reuse and impact of scholarly work. By default we operate Gold Open Access: the Version of Record (VoR) is made openly available immediately on publication under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright while granting IJRGP the non-exclusive publishing rights needed for hosting, metadata deposits and preservation.
What we mean by OA
- Gold OA (IJRGP default): The publisher’s Version of Record is made freely accessible on the journal website immediately upon publication under CC BY 4.0. DOI and machine-readable licence metadata are deposited and indexing services.
- Green OA (self-archiving): Authors may deposit preprints and the accepted author manuscript (postprint) in institutional or subject repositories, subject to the conditions described below. Authors should link to the VoR and include the DOI.
- Hybrid OA: IJRGP does not operate hybrid paywalled journals as the default model. If a journal under IJRGP ever adopts a different model this will be made explicit on the journal home page.
Default licence and author rights
- Default licence: CC BY 4.0 for published articles. This licence permits reuse, redistribution and commercial use with attribution — supporting compliance with most funder mandates and enabling text-and-data-mining.
- Author copyright: Authors retain copyright unless they explicitly agree to a different arrangement in writing. Upon acceptance authors grant IJRGP the right to publish, distribute, preserve and deposit metadata for indexing. (See Copyright & Licensing policy.)
APCs, waivers and equity
There is no fee at submission. If your article is accepted an APC may apply (see APCs & Waiver Policy). Waiver and discount decisions are made independently of editorial review and will not influence publication decisions.
Preprints, postprints & repository deposits (green OA)
- Preprints permitted: Authors may post preprints to recognized non-commercial servers (arXiv, bioRxiv, OSF Preprints, etc.). Authors must declare any preprint at submission and include the preprint DOI/URL.
- Accepted manuscript (postprint): Authors may deposit the accepted author manuscript in institutional or subject repositories immediately upon acceptance. IJ RGP requests that authors include a link to the published VoR and cite the DOI.
- Version of Record: The formatted VoR provided by IJRGP is the definitive, citable record and will be openly available under CC BY 4.0.
Data, code & supplementary materials
IJRGP encourages and often requires authors to deposit underlying data, code and large supplementary files in trusted repositories and to provide a Data Availability Statement. Where possible, datasets should be licensed permissively (CC0 or CC BY) to maximise reuse. Sensitive or legally restricted data should be described with access conditions.
Text & Data Mining (TDM)
CC BY licensing permits lawful automated text and data mining. IJ RGP will provide machine-readable metadata and reasonable bulk access arrangements on request to support research TDM activities.
Commercial reuse & permissions beyond CC BY
CC BY allows commercial reuse. For special, negotiated, or exclusive commercial uses beyond CC BY (e.g., paid reprints, exclusive anthologies) contact contact@ijrgp.com. Any such agreements will be transparent and documented.
Funder & institutional mandates compliance
IJRGP’s Gold OA + CC BY approach is compatible with the majority of funder mandates (e.g., Plan S–style requirements). Authors should check specific funder conditions; IJRGP will support authors with licence and deposition metadata to facilitate compliance.
Exceptions & embargoes (rare)
IJRGP’s default is immediate OA (no embargo). Exceptions (e.g., legal constraints, third-party content that cannot be relicensed) are allowed only with strong justification and must be agreed in writing prior to publication. Embargoes may limit eligibility for certain indexers and funder compliance.
Preservation & long-term access
Open access is only valuable if preserved. IJRGP pairs OA publishing with archiving commitments (see Archiving & Preservation Policy). We maintain backups, plan participation in community archiving services, and include DOI and metadata deposits to ensure persistence.
Open access at IJRGP is a practical commitment: immediate discoverability, clear licensing, machine-readable metadata and preservation — all aligned to serve authors, readers, and the long arc of scholarship.
